TourFish brings together the expertise and experiences from two INTERREG IVa 2 Seas funded projects, ‘GIFS’ (Geography of Inshore Fishing and Sustainability) and ‘Fish&Chips’ .

In order to fully grasp the potential scope of opportunities that bring together fisheries, food and responsible tourism led to the creation of this cluster.

Partners, beside the Flemish House of Food, include among others Sidmouth Trawlers (UK), Nausicaa (France)and Festival L’Homme et la Mer in Guilvinec (France).

The project consists of 2 phases:

Phase 1:

On the 23rd and 24th of June 2014 a cross-border conference was organized in Hastings (UK). It  was riddled with interactive thematic sessions, demonstrations, exhibitions and information stands. In cooperation with the Flanders House of Food RESOC Mid-West-Flanders prepared and gave a presentation about the importance of socio-economic “regional branding”, related to agro-food.

In additional, by the end of August 2014, the publication “Responsible Tourism, Food and Fisheries: New Opportunities for Sustainable Development” was developed.

Phase 2

During the first half of 2015 an interactive cycling route was developed  in the region of Mid West Flanders, based on the socio-economic particularities of the region (agro food) and allowing/teasing the participants to really get a ‘taste’ of the unique assets this region has to offer.
